    Hi

I got this message on my laptop today

    Internal
No bootable devices--strike f1 to retry boot, f2 for setup utility
Press f5 to run onboard diagnostics.

I have run the onboard diagnostics and nothing was found, it gives me the option to reboot, which I do then I get this message again.

The laptop is only about 1 yr old, but prob. out of warranty. Does anyone have any ideas to fix it?

    Gail

    Nothing.....Just switched on my laptop.

My flatmate said webpages were flicking on the screen, and it has been acting funny, but I haven't used it for a while. I thought maybe it had caught a virus, but now I'm not so sure. I think it might be stuffed.

I'm sorry. I'm pretty computer illiterate. I don't know what AV scan is, but all I can do is F1, F2 and F5. F8 doesn't even work, although it did earlier tonight because I got the prompt to start in Safe Mode, which I tried, then I got this message.

What I get is the blue lights flash, the Big Blue Dell sign comes on the screen, a little bar with Inspirion 1525, above and Bios Revision A13 below.

then the Internal No bootable devices error..... and two little beeps.

Vipre. But I can't run anything.....although I just got another message when I switched it on saying "Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause...." There was a whole page, but it said to hit return for repair, which was recommended so I did.

Now it says, A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer
    disk.sys
    Page_fault_in_Nonpaged_Area
If this is the first time youve seen this stop error screen restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:
Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed.
If this is a new installation ask your hardware or software manufacturer for any windows updates you might need
If problems continues, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use Safe Mode to remove or disable components restart your computer, press F8 to select Advanced startup options, and then select safe mode.
    Technical information:
    ***Stop; 0x00000050 (0x87FB23FC, 0x000000008,0x87FB23FC,0x00000000)
    *** disk.sys - Address 87FB23FC base at 87FB1000, DateStamp 00000000

Trouble is I have tried F8, and it doesn't work.....I get the first screen that I was talking about.
