NO CD - Need to move program to new computer

I purchased a new computer and I have two programs that came pre-installed on my old computer that I want on my new one (CD Direct and Quicken). The old compuer (HP) has only a disk that will reformat and return the system to its purchased state so I can't install the two programs on my new computer from the old computer's install disks. I've looked at the reviews of apps movers but most copy your whole system or are too expensive. Any ideas of how I can move these two programs so they will work on my new system? (Which is an Home XP system by the way)

Hi Linda
Something to try. Put the CD in the tray and hold down the shift key as it fires up - that stops it from having it's way with your new computer. Then open up explorer and look for the .exe files on the HP CD which are the installation files for those two programs. Copy them across to a temp folder in your new computer and install from there. Hope this will solve the problem.

Thanks Robert. Great suggestion (one of those "Why didn't I think of that?" <G>). The recovery disk runs under cloaker but I managed to get around that. I think this will work. I'll have to unzip all the apps files to figure out which ones are the ones I need. It will take some time. I'll report back on how successful I was. Thanks again.

Thanks Robert. Your suggestion worked. Now all I have to do is figure out how to get an update for the older version of CD Direct from the support site <sigh>.
