"no compatible cd recorder found"

can someone help me with this..i use ashampoo burning to burn dvds but a couple weeks ago when i go to burn the movie a message says "no compatible cd recorder found"..i dont know if i deleated something by accident or what happened all i know is it wont let me go to the next step to burn a movie???any help would be nice. thanks

 

Hmm, seems odd. Is your CD Recorder showing up in the device manager as a burner?

Do you have any device conflicts? Also, since it was working in the past, did you make any major changes that you can remember since then?

 

where can i find out about the device manager..i was deleating some things on here a few weeks ago and thats when i could no longer burn movies..so i might have deleated it then..but how can i know that for sure, and how can i get it back or download something that will work?

 

Well, you can access your device manager by going to your Start menu, right clicking on My Computer (if its listed there, or on your desktop) and going down to properties. Then There should be on one of the tabs (Sorry cant remember from off the top of my head and im running vista where im typing this on) it should show "Device Manager"

And from there, you should be able to see if you have any conflicts.
