No connection or ip

My brother was updating my grandmothers computer and updateing avg and avg wanted to restart befor windows was done and the computer restarted and now there is no conecction to the internet and when i go to ipconfig it says windows ip configuration and nothing afterwards and its not linking with the router i was updateing windows from sp2 to sp3 im on an ipod touch to get on

 

First things first I'd check your Ethernet driver - click on the start menu then Right-click My Computer, click Manage, and then click Device Manager scroll down for network adapters expand with the little + sign next to it, there should be something in the drop down menu right click and choose uninstall then click on the icon that looks like a computer with a magnifying glass in front of it, that should scan your computer and re-install the network driver and it should fix the problem otherwise you might have to do a complete recovery on your grandmothers computer unless someone else can suggest something.

 

Yeah I got it fixed. It was wierd there were 2 necs detected in device manager I uninstalled one and it never found it again so I was worried. after reading your message I tried it on the other one and it worked... I have no idea why it showed up twice. But thanks a lot for the help.
