My audio stopped working about two weeks ago. I had been using a Turtle Beach sound card for many years. When I booted up the computer, I noticed the on board speaker was “beeping” for windows events.

I went into the Sounds and Audio Device program and could not select a device.

Since then, I’ve completely removed the Turtle Beach sound card (software and PCI card). I’ve also uninstalled and re-installed the SoundMax application.

I do not get any conflicts in device manager, and the devices I’ve looked at all say they are functioning correctly. I still can not go into the Sounds and Audio Device program and could select a device.

When I start SoundMax, I get “Digital output taken by another device”.

Any ideas where / what I might try to look at next?

    Thanks.

This was found on the SoundMax page.

    Thanks for looking into this.

I do not have the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Sensaura\Speaker. Under Sensaura I just have Enviroment and Virtual Ear.

As I had both SoundMAX and the PCI Card effected, is there any OS drivers or processes I can verify are working?

    Thanks.

SoundMAX, Drivers enabled but won't start

I've been troubleshooting the all too common audio problem. I’ve included my original post below.

What I decided to do was go into Safe Mode and un-installed SoundMAX. I then re-installed SoundMAX, also in Safe Mode.

Now I get “Drivers enabled but has not been started”. There are no errors or conflicts in Device Manager and the Windows Service is started.

The only other message I get is “There are no active mixers” when I use SoundMAX’s Volume dialog.

    What am I missing?

    Thanks.

It's general forum policy to continue the first thread until the problem is solved, and just bad etiquette to start a new thread for the same problem, esp with only a day or two between the two threads. I understand the threads are in different forums, but that doesn't matter. If you want the original thread moved, contact an admin or moderator.
    :confused

    Patience my friend. ;)

Besides, it looks like a fix was found in post #2 on your original thread. Did you follow the steps listed in post #2?

Hopefully a forum admin/mod will see the two threads and combine them or delete this one and keep the original thread going.
