Sorry if this is a repost, posted before but unsure if it went through.

New here, question re: a new build. new mobo, processor, graphics card, assembled but unable to get any inout to monitor. Power on, fans turn on, all plugs is, no POST, no bios. Have tried new mobo, switching all RAM individually, new PSU, assembling out of case, etc. Have asked all computer savvy friends, no ideas. All screws in, grounded as far as i can tell. No dust, have cleaned thoroughly.

    Here's the build:

Antec Three Hundred Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
    Intel Core i7-4790 LGA 1150
    MSI ATX DDR3 2600 LGA 1150 H97 GAMING 3 motherboard
4 sticks of ddr RAM (2 corsair, two g.skill)
    800w corsair PSU
Western Digital Caviar Blue WD5000AAKX 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive - OEM

Monitor works, cables work. Symptoms are no display, cannot hear beeps because I have no mobo speaker, comp now powers on and off in cycles of 5-10 seconds but previously just no display. FWIW, this has happened to me in the same location with the same tower but different mobo, graphics card, and processor. Have tested all individual parts, followed online guides, reset CMOS (no jumper, used the battery reset), etc. I am at a loss now. Help please!

Screws/standoffs only where there are corresponding holes. Tried assembling outside of case already, and giving separate power supply to each graphics card I've tried. Also tried the onboard card. Have also tried all RAM sticks in all combos of 1, 2, and 4.

I will have to invest in a mobo speaker though.

Did you observe proper ESD precautions while handling your components to ensure any static in your body did not destroy your CPU, RAM or motherboard(s)?

Understand a static discharge from your finger tips so tiny you cannot see, feel, or see is way more than enough to scorch a Grand Canyon size gorge (microscopically speaking) though the CPU die, RAM module or other ESD sensitive devices. :(

I was grounded, though only through keeping contact with the metal parts of the case.

TBH, the symptoms are so similar to previous issues I've had that I feel like thay must be related to the case, cables, or some other component that has been carried through. I am unsure where the problem could be though. Will try disassembling/reassembling again tonight, it now will not even stay on >5 seconds, whereas before it stayed on but simply did not boot.

That's fine as that keep you and the case and all the connected devices "at the same potential". It is only when there is a "difference in potential" that an arc (discharge) can occur.

The only way it can be the case is if it is coming into contact with the motherboard or exposed wire in a cable in some way it is not supposed to. That most commonly is through extra standoffs.

Did you apply new TIM (thermal interface material) or go with the pre-applied pad. If the pad, did you remove the plastic protective cover?

I used new thermal paste. I am not super comfortable applying it, but as far as I can tell it went on fine. Don't think there was a pre-applied pad on the processor, I did remove the hard plastic cover. I could try taking the processor out and examining, but am afraid of ruining it by touching the wrong part, and am not sure how to remove the thermal paste.

It is typically on the heatsink and you would know if there was one. And the plastic cover would have been like a piece of tape (though not sticky) on the pad that you would peel off.

The key thing with applying a fresh new layer of TIM is for it to be as thin as possible, but with thorough coverage. It only needs to fill the microscopic pits and valleys.

Since you have tried multiple graphics cards, RAM in different configurations and two different power supplies, and you did this outside the case too, then it sounds like you got a bad motherboard.

Sadly, it's the 2nd mobo (Already ordered a replacement, thinking it might be bad). Just tried assembling outside the case again, power cycling every 3-5 seconds now, won't even stay on.

So now you are saying this same problem occurs with different power supplies, different RAM (Corsair and G.Skill) in different configurations, different graphics cards, inside and outside the case, and now two different motherboards? ???

Then that points to the CPU and/or you are not connecting the PSUs up properly. My fear is you zapped the CPU with ESD, or maybe bent a pin or pins during assembly. Did you connect both power supply connections to the motherboard?

    New and very strange development...

i can get it to stay on and stop power cycling-by plugging in a pC motherboard post code analyzer into the PCI_E2 slot. But the code analyzer doesn't turn on. If I plug it into the PCI_E4 slot, it does turn on and LEDs light up, but no error message shows because the PC power cycles.

Here's where it gets weird-i plug in my graphics card to the PCI_E2 slot, it turn on but quietly, almost like not enough juice? Nt sure, but anyway, pc stays on for longer but power cycles off. i keep both the graphics card in slot 2 and the analyzer on slot 4, PC stays on (no display, but no power cycling). Graphics card in slot 4 gets me no where. no error message either way from analyzer.

Basically, if something is plugged into slot 2 PC doesn't cycle. But no display either. Very bizarre. If no card plugged in, pc cycles every 3-5 seconds. this is all assembled outside the case.
