Hello, I recently just built my first PC and so far, everything has gone smoothly, that is...until I tried to install Windows 7 64bit.

My motherboard is a Gigabyte Z77-D3H
    My processor is an i7-3770
I'm running 8gig of 1600mHz corsair vengeance RAM
And will be running a GTX 560 graphics card.

Like I said, so far everything works until I go to install Windows. When it asks me where I would like to install it, it tells me:

"No drives were found. Click "Load Driver" to yada yada yada..."

So I insert the disk that came with the motherboard to search for the driver and either:

    1: I cant find it.
    2: It isnt here.

The HDD shows up in the bios, just not here (the HDD is a 1tb Seagate)

All of the components are brand new as I only got them 2 days ago and put them together today.

I originally had the HDD in the sata3 /0 slot and the dvd drive in the /1 slot, and recently swapped them around to see if that fixed it, yet it didnt.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Not all mobos have a format function in bios but if you have it you can open bios and first format the drive then set the bios to boot from CD and it should see it.

From what I can tell, I dont have that function in my bios. Is there anything else I can do?

OK open the Bios and select "main" under the sub heading select "hard drives" there you will see if it configured for your set up, if you have the drive on sata then it should be enabled as such.

Looking deeper into this, it may be the SATA drivers you can download them from here http://drivers.softpedia.com/downloadTag/GA-Z77-D3H+(rev.+1.0) and burn them to disk then when you try to install the OS it should ask something like "are there any third party drivers you need to install" if so then insert the disk and load the driver then return to the OS installation.

I dont have a "Main" heading, however I did search and the sata controllers and such are enabled and it does detect the HDD, just not when trying to install the OS

    2 things I wanna ask

1: Would these drivers work for my MB? (eg. is the GA in front just saying it's a gigabyte or is it a different model?)

2: Which of the files would I need to download and would I be able to put them on a USB? Having aussie net with download limits means I can't afford to download potentionaly large files multiple times.

Thank you for the download, I tried it yet however it's still telling me that no drives were found.

Do you have another HDD to try in place of the one that is installed??
You do not need to install anything just put the OS disk in and se if it can find the drive if it does just cancel the installation and we can proceed further.

Well i am at a loss to understand why the PC can not see the disk!!!!!!!!!!!
i will do some research and see if i have missed anything but i doubt it.
maybe another member can jump in with hints.

I also have no idea why this is happening, the only other thing I can think of is changing where they are plugged in from the SATA3 to the SATA2 slots.

But at 2:30 in the morning and having spent all day putting it together to finally have it muck up now, I'm not in the mood to start fiddling around with the inside again.

I appreciate the help and if anyone else has any tips, no matter how small or silly they may sound to please let me know.

But for now, I'm going to call it a night.

I've just woke up and tried it again, hoping for some unknown reason that it would work and it still doesn't want to.

It's being a pain and I have a funny feeling that the solution is simple, I just don't know it yet.

    Just an update.

I have managed to get windows to identify the HDD by going into command prompt and entering a couple lines (which I cannot remember) but the end result being able to install the OS with no further problems.

    Thanks for your help, Bill.
