no hard drive found

    Hi I wonder if anyone can help me my parents have a Compaq Presario SR1539 uk. It wouldn't start up so they went to pc recovery and now all we get is the main Compaq screen then it comes up with
    No hard drive found
    Pc Recovery cannot be continued!
    Press any key to continue.

    When i press anykey it goes through the same process I am at a loss how to get past this Please help Thanks :(

    Explain further. Does this mean windows would not boot or does it mean there was a problem with the power supply?

    Either the hd has died or the cable is bad, assuming the power supply works.

    I think the drive has just given up the ghost it doesn't load windows at all.
    It does power up ok but then does what i earlier posted!

    You might also want to check the BIOS and make sure no one has disabled the drive. also check the SATA operation. The BIOS should also confirm whether or not the Hard Drive is being detected or is simply disabled.;)
