I just wanted to say thank you to the ones who put together the HiJack This tutorial. It is very complete and thorough. Thanks to the tutorial, I was able to remove 17 suspect entries (by myself without having to post a help request or a HJT log here) that HJT detected and my system (actually a Windows Server 2003 system) is now back to normal running nice and fast again.

As a tip, all you really have to do is have a little bit of patience, analyze each line from HJT individually, one at a time, and remove the suspect entry. My method was to simply search (via google) for a keyword phrase (such as WebRebates or whatever) on a suspect line and 9 times out of 10, you will find links in Google that verify the suspect line is indeed some sort of spyware or uninvited guest, which you can simply remove with HJT.

My system was in relatively bad shape, so much so that when I clicked on My Computer or tried to open IE, it took about a minute to open up (this is on a dual processor Xeon system mind you). After my HJT success, it's like a brand new system.

Thank you again so much for the awesome HJT tutorial.

    All the best,

    VIPER7
