    Hello
I just reformatted and reinstalled xp sp3 on my laptop; it is wirelessly connected to my desktop xp sp3.
The installation is fine but I cannot access the internet. I did this before and had no problems. The only difference is that about three months ago I had a tech enhance the settings in my router as I am lost in that area. The tech support is expired and I don't even know if it is router related.
    Can you help?
    Thank you

open a command prompt(start - run - type cmd - hit enter) and type ipconfig/all
post back with the output when you can.

Thank you for replying;I printed the output on my screen and am sending as an attachment.
I hope it works and is legible.
I don't know any other way to do it.

Your cmd post shows correct configuration.

Try the following pings in a cmd window.

    ping 127.0.0.1
    ping 192.168.1.1
    ping 209.131.36.158

The first confirms functioning of your pc network card
the second communication with the router
the third communication with the internet

If you get replies from all three look at the settings in your pc
If you get the first two but not the third, look at the settings in your router.

are you sure you set up your dynamic DNS correctly on your router? i noticed you have your router ip as your DNS server. try using your ISPs DNS. you can statically put it in your nic settings.

I made a typical novice mistake. The laptop needs a wireless pc card and I forgot to run the cd. I don't know if I then have to configure it.
I will try it now and see what happens.
I am very sorry to have taken your time with such a unthinking error.
I'll be back to let you know and thank you for helping.:-o

Yes, I did forget to install the Laptop's pc card but once I did I had kept informaion I needed and am online with both.
Again, I'm sorry to have taken up your time but thank you and I hope to be back with a worthwhile question next time.
