No Internet Connection

My computer suddenly is not connecting to network. Haven’t been at computer for at least a week. Today no connection. Device manager says Realtek network adapter is working properly. Tried several network cables. Nothing yet a second laptop computer connects to both lines.

So what's up? Computer has a bad socket? Find an Ethernet card and disable on-board adapter?

So your devices normally connect through your WiFi network yeh?
Not ethernet?

Have you tried re-booting the gateway ( modem)?
1st step.

 

Hold everything. It's my router or cables somewhere. Moved my computer directly to the modem and now connected. The laptop was always connecting wireless not cable as first thought. Confusing stuff for a novice, especially when one doesn't touch anything for months and my poor memory makes matters worse

 

Found this TL-SF10005 in my parts box but no power adapter. No idea where it went. Searching the web for specs but nothing. Anyone know what voltage and polarity? Have quite a number of power adapters should be able to make something work.
