I have windows XP MCE, running IE 7. I can connect to the internet, but only certain pages will open. MSN, and Google are the only ones that will load. I can not got to other websites, be it clicking on a link, or typing it in in the address bar. My desktop is connected wireless, I am connected to a Linksys WRT 150n, and that is connected to a WCG 200 V2. All the other computers on the network are working just fine. I have a laptop that is wireless and a desktop that is wired. I have installed Firefox and that still hasnt fixed it. Any help please. I used SUPERAntiSpyware and that has not found anytihng. Thanks.

Have you tried connecting directly to the WCG 200 V2, remove the router and seeing if it works?

IE7 sometimes sets itself to 'work offline' without notifying the user. The reason some pages open is because IE has cached them... when IE7 is open, look up to the right and you'll see "Tools". Click it and you'll see a drop-down menu. Make sure that there is NO check mark next to 'Work offline'. Then close IE, wait a few seconds, then open it again. Hopefully that's all it is. If not, try Cat's suggestion above and get back to us....

    Good luck!

Checked the work offline and it is not checked. Also connecting to the WCG 200 isnt possible due to the location, of the modem and the computer. It was working great till about two weeks ago.

    Hi

A step by step so do test your PCs internet connection after each below....

Have you cleared the temp internet cache and cookies, may have some corrupted temps, Ccleaner is ok for this job, or just Tools > Internet Options > Browsing history delete > Delete all.

Outside chance is that the DNS cache has corrupted entries ( negitive entries, but these should have been refreshed well within the 2wks you been having this ) in it, so well worth flushing this client side cache. To do this click Start > Run and type cmd and hit enter, then type at the dos prompt ipconfig /flushdns and hit enter.

Have you installed any new software before this happened, like security, popup blockers or toolbars ( if so what )? to also check if a 3rd party add-on is causing this run IE in no-addons mode ( Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Internet Explorer no-addons )

Disable your firewall software if you have one and test the internet.

Possibles are malware so check that PC for infections? Dont just rely on your PC based antivirus I would run this guide and if anything is found ( apart from cookies ) then start a new thread in our malware forum and attach the already gained logs.

Also have a look in your hosts file. Look here c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
and check that 127.0.0.1 followed by website you wish to get to are NOT in that location.

I flushed the DNS and ran the CCleaner and nothing was found. I dont know where to go from here, short of reinstalling. I can check email using Outlook, and my MSN messanger works also.
