No Internet, No Detected Malware, W7 Pro Corruption??

Dell Latitude E6440 64bit w W7 Pro. Running paid MBAM and Kaspersky AV. All hardware integrity shows as good - incl'g wireless card and adapter are turned on. Malware forum says 2 sets of scans are clean. Forgot to update Flash player given severe, current life stressors. Had a few unsaved Office windows open and had to quickly shut the system down - did so w/o saving the Office files. At the same time, Kaspersky indicated it needed to reboot to update (unusual) but just let it shut down. System rebooted but I lost all internet connectivity or recognition. I ran an older CCleaner w to clear files. A 2nd try allowed me to load and run the latest CCleaner version (per MajorGeeks instructions). Still no recognition of any networks or ability to connect. Dell insists there's an OS corruption. Trying very hard to avoid reloading system - have a good amount of software used to manage disabilities and a reload will be very difficult. Any help is greatly appreciated. Glad to download and run Tweaking.com or anything you suggest. Thanks so much!

First thing to try is Tweaking Windows repair. See if that helps.

Tweaking.com free version was done. All Steps run in Safe Mode. Comp capacitors were drained b/f starting. Prescan, checkdisk and system file check (again) were done. System was backed up via Tweaking.com. At whichever step, there were Environmental Integrity Problems and Repaired all it suggested. I ran it through the Repairs twice with no category changes and no effect on accessing internet nor identifying any wireless connections. Doubled checked wireless cards - wireless, LAN, wireless adapter all say they are working. Completed Tweaking.com steps to "Pro Features." Attached are program files. Repair log has many text files so I've only attached the 2nd window repair log file. Pls let me know what else is needed. Also, showing 2 desktop.ini files on desktop, one accessed May 2016(?). The other from 2009. Is there any chance MajorGeeks has a magic trick up a sleeve?? Thank you for all help!

Ask your ISP to do a check.

Re: ISP. I've run the computer side by side in w an older one in 3 homes different homes and had no problem with the old system that still works. Both Comcast and Verizon. Any other suggestions?? Software prob? Missing OS file? Again, some life chaos and dealing with some disabilities had me forget to check flash player - it was outdated when this happened (and is now uninstalled). thanks for any thoughts. Malware check was done twice and both times came up clean so I was referred to the Software forum. Thank you for any help!

Attached is the scannow txt file. Perhaps you'll see something I can't. B/F reaching out for your expertise, I used Dell phone support in case this was something easy. Their hardware tests and Scannow both came up clean, then, despite the disability software I have on my system, they said I had to reinstall the OS. I glanced at all resources in Device Manager again None of them have red marks or any indication they aren't properly working. Any other ideas?? Also, a rough life situation has me shifting to stay at a 4th home in a week - everyone's computer and the old bu I'm using have connected at every place, except the Latitude E6440. That won't even recognize available wireless networks. Thank you again.

The attached text came from running the system file checker using instructions link provided. If your echo is to have the ISP run a test, will try to do it from the house I'm at now. Again, every other computer at several homes is connecting, both through wireless and LAN. Not to seem clueless but is the ISP check what you were referring to? Thanks

Ok. I checked your attached sfcdetails.txt and at the end it says Repair complete.

You do not have to do this.
A repair of Windows 7 is as good as a re-install with the added bonus all your software and files will be intact.
I have done this and had to re-install only the Lexmark (printer) and Nero software which was understandable - both programs install drivers in the System32 folder which were removed.

Here are detailed instructions (two pages) - read them and follow the steps word for word.

Oy. At the moment, it appears W10 files changed settings and stopped all internet connections. GWX install seems to have it running at the moment (though there are a slew of microsoft updates that didn't show bf). Will update status and request help w final steps once I've done all I can. Thanks much. We NEED a world w more ppl who believe in helping others like all of you (and me).

GWX install seemed to help w W10 install and files. Reboot brought up several W7 updates....trying oldest, one at a time but most haven't installed. Have waited hours. Only sometimes works.
Ques: 1. GWX has a 'clear windows update cache.' Is that dangerous and/or does it require a system bu?
    2. Anyone try re-enabling GWX windows 10 stuff and see if the files download (except W10 itself), then removing them after downloads complete? i.e. major stretch but is it possible GWX might be interferring?
    3. Also, there are ~10 folders and files each that majorgeeks forums are recommending removal from here: C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download. Suggestions re: best approach to download and install the updates?
    Thanks much

    Do you want Windows 10?

No time to play w it right now and so angry Microsoft has been so sneaky w forcing the install, I need to wait on W10. Once life settles down, I may install. BUT, like all of you help us, I try to help several "older" folks who easily get confused w any OS changes, so I need to know how to keep their systems stable. At least until I can see how W10 works and think through how confusing it will be for them. The system is installing single, older updates at the moment - wouldn't budge last night. Any faster update process? Poss there's a corrupted download? (sev'l updates wouldn't install). While allegedly much better, are you using W10, like it, and have you found any downsides (other than confusing older folks)??

My apologies, and I'll have to exit at this point.
I run Windows 7 Ultimate... no SP1, no updates, no problems.
And when I can no longer run Windows 7 because of new hardware, I'll use Linux and run Windows 7 in a virtual machine.
    Sorry I couldn't help.

Thanks for the thoughts Eldon.I'll be heading to linux soon. I've looked at other threads on the W10 prob- seems my original problem was a setting change that occurred after 1 update around that. Does anyone else know if post #16 options will work for seamless W7 OS updates?

Thx. I used this program to ID and remove W10 files from the system. Everything is "safe" now and the monitor mode is enabled. But "clearing windows update cache" looks scary so I wanted to double check if that's safe to use and will it delete all updates and force me to start all updates again? Or, do I delete folders/files from here first and see if that speeds up W7 updates? C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download
Will try whichever you think is best. Thx!

Excuse me but haven't you left this a bit late? You have known the cutoff date for the free upgrade for nearly a year and have had all of that time to try it and familiarise yourself with it, knowing you could roll back to 7 for up to a month. IMO you are not doing your elderly friends a favour with this approach as they will probably miss the free upgrade. I too help several friends, mostly elderly or who are not technically minded and without exception they have adapted very quickly to Win 10 with only minimal input from me.
Windows 7 updates have been behaving badly for months, there are several threads here about the problem. One effective answer has been to use the WSUS offline update which you can get HERE.
