No Internet on Computer

My internet stopped working when I switched my wired connection back to my pc from my ps3.
The diagnostic utility states that I should chack my ipv4 settings or something like that.
My internet on my ps3 still works, and when I type ipconfig in command, it reads Windows IP configuration. and that is all that is there.

Any help iis great. thank you.

 

sorry for double posting but it didnt let me edit beforehand.
the problem is that my computer is not getting a new ip address. my computer is set to get one automatically but it wont get one.
how can i fix this problem?

 

unplug the modem from the power (if you have a router unplug it too), and shut the pc down, plug the pc back in to the modem (or the router if you are using one) and re-power the modem (next the router) and trun the pc back on...
that should fix it....

 

Type ipconfig /all in the Command window.

The IPV4 should show your current IP address.

I won't try to tell you how to re-set your connection, because I may be wrong.
(I can set mine but not sure you are configured the way I am)
(Yes, I don't know enough about networks to give that advice) :-D

You can try going to Control Panel>Network Connections, right click your LAN icon and choose Repair. That may help.
Also, to qoute my local ISP, re-set your modem by powering it off for 30 secs and then restart it. Wait for it to fully power back up and then check your connection.

 

When I type in IPCONFIG /ALL, It states that IP routng is disabled and does not show ipv4 settings.
When i go to the control panel, it says that it is an unknown network and it says:
"the dependency service or group failed to start"
I have windows vista so the control panel is slightly different.

I tried to reset the modem like hacker said to but it did not work.

open a cmd window (start> "Start search" type cmd> and it should run or be in the start bar) type 'sfc /scannow'

Although it does appear that this fix was successful for some in the forum thread referenced, potentially replacing system files sounds a little dangerous--even if it's the operating system that's doing it. If you take this approach, you may want to at least create a System Restore Point first. That way, if things don't work out as you planned, you potentially have a way to get back to where you were.

If you are encountering "the dependency service or group failed to start", there should be some clues left in the System Event log as well. What service or services are failing? Does Device Manager show any problems with your NIC?

 

I believe that the problem is not hardware related. Can somebody tell me how to fix a broken tcp/ip driver?

 

I fixed the driver, but now i dont have a default ip address. I tried to reset the modem, i also tried to renew my ip settings but it just shows up as 0.0.0.0

ps: i wasn't able to edit my last post.

 

when i type in ipconfig /renew it takes a while then states that it could not connect to the dchp server

 

from the PC at the command prompt

type

ipconfig /release

then it will release the ip, after that type

ipconfig /renew

then it will give you a fresh one and it should work

and yes, unplugging the modem , waiting about 20 seconds then plugging it back in should work also.
