    Hi

My XP desktop computer has recently had the zeroaccess infection. Under the direction of Kestrel13! on the Malware Removal forum, it appeared the infection had been cleared up, but I now cannot access the internet and email.

My desktop is connected through a wi-fi router to the internet and all of the relevant lights are on and in their correct state according to my ISP. I have exchanged the lead between the desktop and the router. I am able to access the internet with my laptop using wi-fi.

I asked Kestrel13! if this problem could be related to the recent zeroaccess infection and I was referred to this forum.

Are you able to assist me?

Part of the cleanup process reverts some of the registry entries back to default entries, or removes edited preferences.

Check your network setup, specifically your IP address and router address under your network setup for your adapter.

Work your way to the properties for your network card and check the settings under IPv4.

I haven't had XP for a couple of years, so it's hard for me to remember the exact steps to get there.

    Hi Compuable

Thanks for donating your time. The link you sent me to was about two above my paygrade in "geekness".

Is there some form of checklist I can go through.
