Hi all have not needed to post here in a long time because ya'll are so good.
I did a search and found one post about not connecting wirelessly and I disconnected the router turned everthing off and it did not help.
To start I have a Siemens 6520 from my isp I am using a Dell Inspiron 2200 with a Dell wifi card 1350 802.11b/g. I get an excellent connection I can get email through Microsoft Outlook no problem, connect to my work update which is through internet connection no problem, but I cannot connect to Internet Explorer, the repair wizard claims a firewall problem so since I was fixing to change all that any way I uninstalled Norton and disabled the windows firewall , now the router is all that is left can you please help?
Many years now a fan and follower. Yall do the greatest work ever.

    OK, From what I gather.
    1. you have connectivity to your router
    2. you can reach mail through the internet with your outlook program
    3. you can reach work through your internet connection
    Is all that right?

Lets rule out your adapter and router, that leaves your computer.
Three things come to mind, firewall, browser and DNS. You say that you disabled all firewalls right? Well, have you tried a different browser like Fire Fox? Lastly, DNS. More than likely your email is POP or IMAP, yes? IP based to a server? No name resolution needed and possibly your problem. A way to check it to try and ping www.yahoo.com in a cmd prompt. You should see something like this *64 bytes from 69.147.114.210: icmp_seq=3 ttl=50 time=25.668 ms* might be a little different, Im using an iMAC. If www.yahoo.com resolves to an IP and pings then you do not have a DNS problem. Try a different browser and look harder into the IE settings.

Sorry so long, lost my other computer to hardware problems. This turned out to be a LAN setting change that I did not make, Somehow and somebody set IE to use a proxy server local host 3128. I was able to install and run firefox to get to you here then I went out and checked the ping then found the IE settings with the proxy server.
Again thanks I really do appreciate all you folks do.
