    Hi All,
I have no internet access after removing zonealarm free v9.
I have completely remove ZA as per numerous instructions on their user forums.

    OS = Windows 7 Ultimate
    ASUS N50V notebook
    Network adapter Drivers = latest
Device manager reports wired and wireless = ok
    IPCONFIG gives blank result
Windows troublshooting reports that network adapters are experiencing problems.

If I reinstall ZA, internet is restored. How do I restore internet connectivity without installing ZA?

Would really appreciate help as I am at my wits end.

Note: I am unable to install comodo firewall - Error1603

I had already been through the correct process of removing ZA as you described.

When I run cmd then ipconfig the result is:

    c:\Windows\system32>ipconfig

    Windows IP Configuration

    c:\Windows\System32>

I forgot to mention that I upgraded (not clean install) to W7 ultimate from vista ultimate about two months ago. I am wondering if ZA replaced a piece windows software when originally installed in Vista and isn't replaced upon uninstall in Win 7???

ZA uninstalled and connection not functioning!

See ipconfig (as administrator) result below.

Thanks for your help but no joy so far.
All looks fine in Device manager even after disabling and re-enabling both wireless and wired adapters. No other probs evident.

Reset winsock and TCP/IP stack as instructed then running "ipconfig /all" has same result as previously.

ZA uninstalled and connection not functioning!

I am behind a router. Two other PCs are wired to the router and I can get my work pc to connect wirelessly ok. The notebook I am having trouble with won't connect to the network wirelesly or wired.

Wireless networking says "Connections are available" but has status "Limited access" and strong signal.

    Network and sharing centre:
Basic network info shows my computer and the internet with a red X between.
There are no active networks identified
Clicking "Manage wireless networks" my Connection appears.
Clicking "Change adapter settings" I get an empty window.
Recall Windows troublshooting reports that network adapters are experiencing problems.

I'm wondering if a windows repair install would help....or whether it would do more harm??

Hi, Good comments in your post about the firewall but I'm still a little nervous about something getting loaded onto that PC and reaching out to the net when it shouldn't. As you elude to, the reality is that 99% of the time I would give permission for a program to access the net anyway. I'll look a little more into the latest Windows firewall.

Having spent hours upon hours researching and trying different things I decided that the repair install would be the best step. I tried it and after about 4 or 5 hours it was virtually complete when it cropped up with an error:
"Windows could not parse or process the unattended answer file for pass [specialize]. A component or non-list setting is specified more than once in the answer file." :cry

After that it was stuck in an infinite loop of booting. Tried to rectify following advice on the net but was getting nowhere, also the scenarios others were having did not match mine closely enough. One poor guy had been waiting 5 months and still hadn't received a satisfactory response from M$.

In hindsight I realised that my time spent over the last week would have been better doing a clean install and reinstalling all the apps and transferring all the backed up data. So that is where I am at now. Waiting for a clean install to finish....with fingers and toes crossed!! Its a slow process.

I initially dreamed that I might have been able to rectify the problem by simply copying over a couple of files from the windows disk and/or manually starting some services, but I guess OSs are a bit more complicated these days.

Thanks again for all your help.
