My laptop will not connect to my home network. It recognizes the net work, but when I try to connect it says "the wireless network is not on line." It is on line because two other computers are connected to it with no problems.
Network repair cannot find the problem.

The local guru and the geek squad can't fix it.

This laptop has no problems connecting to any other wireless networks.

    Any ideas?

    Hi and welcome to MG's,
Have you tried uninstalling your Wireless Card Driver and reinstalling it ?? how many appliances are connected to the router wirelessly as your router may be only configured to allow so many to connect to it, does it connect alright with the ethernet cable?? try to connect wirelessly whilst connected through the ethernet cable, do you know what diagnostics were run whilst local guru and geek sqaud were helping you.
Make/Model of router and the Make/Model and OS and sp it is at will help also.

I am running Win 7 with an Actiontec 1000 modem. I do not know what the techs ran as checks. There are two other computers connected wirelessly thru the modem. There is one computer hardwired to the modem. The computer connectes fine when hard wired, but does not recognize my wireless network. It connects everywhere else; it used to connect fine at home, and any other computer automatically caonnects to my network with no problems. No changes have been made to the network or laptop in over a year. The problem with the laptop began two months ago.

    Hi,

Sometimes your wireless network may have MAC address filtering enabled, which means only certain computers can connect to the router. You can quickly tell if this is the case by simple resetting the wireless router to default factory settings.

This will remove all security, filtering, port forwarding, or any other settings that could possibly be preventing your computer from connecting to the Internet.

You can also try flushing the DNS cache.....

    1. Click the start button and navigate to the command prompt (Start > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt)
    2. Make sure that you right click on the command prompt application and choose "Run as Administrator"
    3. Type in the command "ipconfig /flushdns" (without the qoutes take note of the space between g /f)

Note: It is also possible to type in "cmd" into the Windows Vista / Windows 7 start menu search field and then right click on the cmd.exe result instead of having to navigate through the various sub menus.

can you also check that each of the computers that networked to the router (wirelessly) have the same details in ip config ....

in cmd window like before type .... ipconfig /all ... this shows the settings for your internet connection, check this an the other machines to see if matches ( ip address will be different but very similar like 168.192.0.1)

can you also tell me what wireless card you are using.
