Hopefully this is the right part of the forum for this...

I want to transfer some audio tapes to my computer. I have Audacity, dl'd the mp3 encoder, have the audio male-male patch cord... I think I'm set up. I know the line-in audio works, because I get sound from my satellite receiver through it. My problem, though, is that when I connect the cassette deck to it, no sound is coming through on my PC.

I have an HP TouchSmart... IQ506, I believe it is, running 64-bit Vista.

    Thanks for any help!

I am using Win7, so steps could vary a little for you.

Right click the speaker icon in the bottom right corner, click recording devices, then click the "listen" tab, then click on your input devices, then click "listen to this device" and choose some speakers to play it back on.

See if that works, if not, then i suggest you try posting in the Software forum.

Thanks for your reply. I tried that... and it was a bit different. There was no "listen to this device" option. I made sure it was enabled, and tried making it my default. Neither one got me sound. :S
