Good morning. I recently bought a new laptop and it has been giving me trouble from the start. I have been getting random wifi disconnects. My browser will sometimes hang when I type in a url address or type in the search bar. Usually after 30 seconds or so it will right itself and go to the address or search that I wanted it to, but sometimes it will completely time out altogether. I thought that this might be a malware issue so I went through the cleaning process and a tech helped me to get rid of some adware and junkware that was on my system. Now my computer is clean but I am still having the issue with my browser. It happens no matter what browser I use so I fear that it has something to do with my OS or my drivers, really though, I don't have a clue what is happening. I was using GoogleChrome but I have since deleted it and now I use Firefox exclusively. Thank you in advance for any help that you can offer.

Have you tried using a wired (ethernet) connection to see if the problem persists? There may also be something that's interfering with the wi-fi signal like in-wall pipes, a metal cabinet, etc.

I haven't tried a wired connection yet, but interference is unlikely because my modem is only a few feet away from my laptop.
I will see if my ethernet cable can reach my laptop.

I had an issue like this with Chrome. I went and disabled all the start up items I didn't need and for some reason that fixed the problem.

With my connection wired I don't seem to be having this problem, but it is going to be problematic to leave my connection wired. I just don't understand why a brand new laptop would have such an issue.

Take it back! There might be a hardware issue. You should not have issues with a new computer. If you do, complain.

Laptops are made to be portable. I can see having a problem in 5 or 6 years if the wireless inside gets flaky. They you buy a USB dongle or have someone take it aprt and replace the wireless unit. But you don't fuss with this on a new laptop.

So, I should post in the hardware forum?

plodr is making the right call on this one, don't even waste your time on trying a quick fix. New should behave like new.

it sounds like something is corrupted in the os files for it to be doing that. I would return the laptop and exchange it for another one or refund.
