No Microphone

I unistalled the Realtek High Definition Oudio driver in my Toshiba laptop and restarted. it reinstalled and no error sighn in device manager but microphone doesn't work.
It worked.
I added a USB sound card with a microphone but it doesn't work either.
What's the difference between Set as default device and Set as default communicating device, in sound control?

 

Which Windows OS are you using?

 

Win 10 Pro
In Windows mixer only the speakers are an option, in the Device panel, on the left. should i see there also microphone?

 

Right-click the Volume icon in the Notification Area and click Recording devices.
What do you see?

 

There isn't Recordind Device there in the right-click list

 

I see:
Open Volume Mixer
Open Sound Settings
Spatial Sound (Off)
Sounds
Troubleshoot Sound Problems

 

Click Open Sound settings.

 

In Sound Settings, Input, there is the Microphone Array (Realtek High Definition Audio) only and selected.
The Test Microphone bar doesn't move when i talk, means it's not working

 

Click Troubleshoot.

The troubleshooter didn't find problems, but the slidebar on the Test your microphone doesn't move, nothing

 

I think I would uninstall device in Device manager and then reboot the pc.
It might pick up the proper drivers.

Hello again. I would always check the system files with running sfc /scannow as a Command prompt with admin. rites.
The process will take around 10 minutes.
It is my belt and braces approach to making windows work as it should...
