Ugh! not another one! :( Hope you all remain safe.

We're still getting torrential rain and cyclones in these parts - so much for spring weather.

After what all came your way LAST year, a tropical storm has to be almost a relief. But yeah, looks like you're in for a pretty good storm. At least it should hit on the weekend, when Star can stay home.

Pass on your traditional Saturday walk along the beach though. ;)

We must be getting the outer bands from Ophelia..been pretty dark here so far today with bursts of wind and rain. Latest NOAA tracking shows the storm is likely to turn out to sea but they area cautioning everyone as they won't know more until later cuz the storm is expected to stall for a bit in the area between St. Augustine and Jax Beach and is likely to gain strength. I still think we'll be ok here..but we will be prepared just in case.:)

@ GT...you don't know Chris very well do ya?;) He says this is the BEST time for a beach stroll. *gasp* LOL Red flags are already flying due to extreme rip-currents and severe beach erosion...local news showing video from the beach...looks like we already have 2 - 3' drop offs...so much for the replenishment that just got done.

For all the be safe and well wishes...thank you and we will. We don't take any chances..if they mention even a possible evacuation we pack so if they order a mandatory we'd be the first ones getting out of Dodge.:D

@ Laurie...history shows that for the next 10 years (9 or 8 now) that we are in a normal cycle of storm activity. Something like every 40 years it gets very active like this. Sorry I can't recall the exact time period/statistics.

This particular cycle varies from 30 to 40 years, and you guys started into the oh-so-fun peak period last year.

You should have moved to Florida about 15 years ago Abby. ;)

Thanks for clarifying GT...I knew you would know!:D

@ Lev...that actually looks like fun...I'd only be worried about dropping fast...face first no less! The winds we have experienced here come in bursts....you can hear them approaching..kinda spooky..but anyway...they come in...may linger for a bit or a long time then suddenly they are just gone...yup...face first into the ground...LOL

NOAA's NHC and the Navy's latest reports show Ophelia heading back out to sea and then looping around to come back toward FL as a hurricane...IIRC that's what Jeanne did last year. The storm could also just fizzle out completely...wish there was an exact science that could pin down exactly what these things were going to do...I know...I'm dreaming! lol For now we are still under a tropical storm watch and likely will be for a bit yet. Honestly, I don't think we will see much activity here at this point.

Thought some of you might find these spaghetti maps interesting. You can view storm paths from 1851 - 2004.

Hey there Abby, hope things stay calm, you guys don't need a storm, and neither does this country right now. We've got our hands full I'd say. :(

How are you and Chris? Can ya punch him in the arm for me? I'm sure he's done something to deserve it! :)

We're doing good. And you bet! As soon as he gets home:D:D LOL

I finally finished getting some goodies together for Kolya and Drexel. Chris took the box with him to get it mailed out today. On the envelope taped to the box are 2 letters...one for you and Cindy and one for the kids...may want to read them before opening the box so you don't have a mess on your hands;):D

Hoping all is well in your neck of the woods and can't wait to see the results of your remodeling I saw you mention in another thread.:)

The beach erosion has been awful already...they even had to close a section of A1A in Flaggler Beach (30 miles from us)....the rough seas had eroded everything away to within 2' of the blacktop. They are trying to fill the area with big rocks hoping to preventing further loss there. We've lost a few feet of beach here and the Army Corp of Engineers is inspecting our new peer to see how it's holding.

The good thing..this storm is expected to head out to sea...the bad thing is the loop back shows it most likely making land fall in the area of North Florida (us) and South Georgia. Some speculate it could make land fall in NC or SC depending on how much of a turn it makes. They are telling us we'll know more Tuesday.

I don't know how you live down there with all this weather. I couldn't do it. Makes me nervous knowing that you guys are down there.

Man, we've been so lucky here in Tally. Last years storms passed us by too! The worst we got was some flooding, heavy rain and wind, and some broken branches and fallen trees. Stay safe everyone, and that means YOU Chris and Abby! *hugs*
