no network adapters (code 31)

Gateway LTop mx7527 has no network adapters. have uninstalled, rebooted, did not work. tried to load program 802.11 G, form GATEWAY site--- did not work. hard wired -- did not work. no 1394. no lnksys. IE and Firefox will open but can not access the internet because hardware is not found.

This happened all of a sudden, was having problems with a anti-virus program that was the virus. have gotten rid of it. Lost adapters before it was deleted.

Then there is the dreaded YELLOW triangles in the device manager (under other), have been uninstalled and rebooted.
