I'm setting up a new dell inspiron 1750 for a friend with dial-up. No phone jack! Only DSL. What are the options?

Get a plug in modem card. Easy and inexpensive.

A picture or link would be helpful.
I don't think hrlow2 means a card because the Inspiron, at least the new one I worked on only has USB ports, no card slot.

You are probably looking to get something like this

just search for USB modem. The above is a Zoom.
Make sure whatever you buy, has Win 7 support (drivers).

Thanks Plodr! I didn't realize they even made USB modems.

I'm not going back to dial up but interesting to know that USB is the evolution of the modem.

    to Plodr
    Did mean card.
(Another case of me not Googling the machine. Assumed desktop.)

This is good to know as the Dell laptop I bought for my wife this summer did not have a modem on-board and no slots for a card. Only capable of wireless or CAT5 plugins, and since I can only get dial-up at home, no Internet for her. Nice to know they make a USB modem.
