Just completed my first, and very basic build but it wont start. Everything but the case and Cd drive are new and I tested the PSU in my working PC. Its fine.
Ive double checked the connections and they are, Im sure as per the mobo manual.
I tried just running the add-in fan outside of the case but that didnt work. Does a psu only work when the power button is switched on?
So could it be a faulty mobo or faulty front panel?
The case is old but was working when I first aquired it.

Im not sure I understand what you are saying, but if the question is 'do I need to press the case power button to start the psu' then generally yes. Make sure you have connected the case power button AND power supply to the mb properly, refer to the manual for the right pin array for the on button. I have no idea what your system is, but if its a P4 and your using a seperate 12v plug, make sure both power cables are plugged into the board. Also, I presume you got the power switch to on on the PSU itself.

Right, mobo is an Elitegroup 755A2. Ive triplechecked all connections so Im wondering if Ive fried the mobo during assembly or the power switch is faulty.

Gees, thats one hard board to find. Well on my first build, a while ago now, I had the same problem with one psu, which was when I had put the plugs from the power button on the wrong levels on the mb. Took a while to figure that out. However, I had another problem on a different build when the psu would flicker and die and not work again. I replaced the psu with a higher power one and all was fine. As a general rule psu's are cheaper than mb's so start there? or post you specs so people can get a better idea of your build.
