I'm looking for a decent anti-virus program for a small office (5 licenses is all we really require). The free ones are fine for my home laptop because I know how to monitor my activities so I don't get infected but my bosses are...technologically illiterate. When I first started working here their virus definitions on McAfee were months out of date and one of them had cancelled his windows updates for so long his machine was still on XP SP1.

Personally, I've never been a fan of McAfee and Norton because every time I've used them they take over and make using certain programs a pain in the *** (either they interfere or run slowly). It's not really a big problem in the office because we only really need internet and AutoCAD but it has been my experience that they aren't that fantastic.

I've had Kaspersky suggested a while back but I don't really know anything about it and I'm not sure if the full versions of AVG and Avast are really comparable to some of the more professionally oriented anti virus programs out there.

Probably going to depend on your digging around, comparing specs and prices, etc.

    Just found this at TopTenReviews.

That link is a great start, or probably great end, to my search. Thanks for the help.

    Ok - here's a little shot - Kaspersky, BitDefender, NOD32 are 1-2-3.

Soon as I load up a zip program, I'll attach a web page only, if anyone's interested.

The link opened OK for me - I'm in the US using Firefox.... it worked OK in Opera and IE8 also. To the question at hand: I'm a huge fan of the free Avira AntiVirus, it offers excellent protection, so I would recommend the paid version if you feel that paid protection is necessary. However, on my home PC I use the free Avira and the paid version of MalwareBytes Anti-Malware. I also run Autorun Eater which stops malware from jumping on to your PC from a USB flash drive if the flash drive is infected with an autorun virus (it's more common than you might think). MalwareBytes is a one-time fee of about $30 per PC, but there are discounts for buying several licenses at once, and they have corporate licensing available. For more info, check their web site: http://www.malwarebytes.org/
