Hi and thanks in advance for your help!:)

I recently got rid of malware and now I'm noticing that none of my programs are working properly. Even newly downloaded programs; for example, WMP won't open now, but did prior to malware. Also, strangley, my recycle bin is empty even after I move several items to it to delete. This all started after the malware issue and its becoming very frustrating. Can anyone help me with this problem? I've tried many registry cleaners, check disk utility, virus scans----but still having the same problem. Also, all of my files (docs and pics) can not be found after the malware problem...is there anyway for me to recover those lost files or is that a loss? Sorry so many questions!

Have you added more RAM? Have uninstalled some programs and move some files off the hard drive to create more space?

    Hi

For getting extra RAM and you dont need to purchase through Crucial but their checker HERE is great for finding the correct RAM to get, then armed with the info you can search your favoured hardware supplier for cheapest RAM prices, but last time I bought RAM Crucial where the cheapest.

Also what is your Windows version and Service Pack, (sorry not going to re-read the malware thread at present to find this info)?

If you boot into Safe Mode (F8 at boot) does your PC work quicker?
What are the security applications you have installed, please name all of them? (was working on a PC last week that was slow and with only 512mb ram with XP and the issue was the antivirus application installed).

Okay, will do as soon as I get home this evening. Does it matter that these programs were working prior to the malware attack? It just confuses me as to why all of a sudden they aren't opening and the whole issue with the recycle bin....thanks!

    Hi

as Charlie has highted the issues, try removing Norton Symantec apps via this app HERE

Then let us know what security apps you have installed and what your issues are now. Can you boot into Safe Mode ok?
