no ps/2 ports on dell

ok this might be more a software thing but here gos.....

I just got a dell in ,its usb only, no ps/2 ports, so i plug in my usb set and boot up.. I have to click "ok" to login but the mouse wouldn't move. I hit enter and nothing... i can use the keyboard in the CMOS... any work a rounds ??

Yeah, I've run into the same thing before too. Usually if you let it sit at the log in screen for a minute or two, the keyboard will usually kick in after a bit. If you restart the PC after sitting at the log in screen for a few mintues, then when the log in screen comes up again after the reboot, the mouse/keyboard will usually work then. If you're using a specialized USB keyboard/mouse that requires drivers (or if it's wireless) you may have some problems until you get a normal USB mouse and KB.....

:banghead no luck at this time I'm trying every usb I have... i might call dell and see if i can get a ceo on the phone.... no PS/2 ports :*** YOU

 

i just got off the phone w/ dell and they have no clue what to do... I'm thing I might slave the hdd in this system and copy over some driver info I dont know thing that would help :confused

 

I am having similar issues with my dell can get into the bios with the keyboard but once starts to windows keyboard doesnt work. Any suggestions I had to restore the machine because of viruses

 

I never found any thing that worked other then trying different USB's and a little hope and some yelling... ok the yelling doesn't help but it made me fell better
