No Signal Input

I'm sorry if this is obvious, but I currently only have internet on the DS, so extensive seaching is almost impossible.

Currently when I turn on my computer my moniter stays blank and only says "video cale connected?". I'm sure it is hooked up right and I know it is not the monitor. If I connect it to my 360 it works fine. If I hook it up to another monitor I have the same problem.

At first I thought it was the video card, but this isn't the first time this has happened. This is a new video card and I've had the same problems on the old one. At least previously I got it on eventually and reformatted, but that didn't work either.

I can tell Windws is still loading because if I wait to turn it off I have to hold the power down longer. Everything else seems to be working it's just not sending a signal to the monitor.

Thanks in advance for your help, I tried to mention everything that I thought might be relevant. Sorry if this post turns out weird, as I said I'm typing it on the DS.

 

Are you sure it is connected correctly? Do you have an aftermarket video card? If so, did you change the video settings in BIOS before connecting the monitor to the new video card? Do you even have a built in video card?

Thanks for the reply, but actually it turned out to be the processor.

The cpu fan was full of dust and the processor was overheating. I took it out and cleaned it up and everything seems to be running fine now.
