    Hi
    I have recently bought:

    XFX ATI Radeon HD 4850 "XXX Edition" 512MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI/HDMI (PCI-Express) - Retail

    Asus M4A78 AMD 770 (Socket AM3/AM2+) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard

OCZ ModXStream Pro 600w Silent SLI Ready ATX2 Modular Power Supply

    AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 7850+ Black Edition 2.80GHz (Socket AM2+) - Retail

    Samsung SpinPoint F1 500GB SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM (HD502IJ)

    Corsair Dominator 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2 XMS2 PC2-8500C5 TwinX Dual Channel (TWIN2X2048-8500C5D)

Coolermaster Elite 330 Midi Tower Case - Black (No PSU)

When i turn on the system i get no signal to the monitor at all. I have tried another monitor and cable.

The led on the motherboard lights up and all the fans work including the one on the graphics card. I get no beeps (i do if i take out all ram).

all power connectors are connected. I have tried with just 1 stick of ram cpu and fan and gpu but still dont get anything on the screen.

I am unable to try the gpu in a different system.

First thing to do is to clear the BIOS using the on-board jumper. If that doesn't work, I have read in other forums that removing the CMOS battery for a few minutes on the M4A78 motherboard will allow the system to boot so a BIOS upgrade can be performed. If this doesn't work, unplug/remove any devices that are not vital to powering on the PC. This includes the hard drive, floppy drive (if you have one), and CD/DVD drive(s); remove both the data and power cables from these devices. If you have a media reader connected to the USB headers on the motherboard, disconnect it and any other USB devices including printers, scanners, cams, etc. If you have a sound card or any other cards, remove them. I don't think your motherboard has on-board video, so the GPU must stay in the system. Once all non-essential devices have been removed, try again to see if the PC will post. Try one stick of RAM in a different slot each time, then the other stick. If none of this works, then we are kind of stuck unless you have some extra components laying around, like a power supply, video card, extra memory sticks, etc. Maybe you have a friend with extra parts? The local used PC store should have some very inexpensive old video cards laying around that you could buy for $10 or less. A basic 16mb used PCI video card is great for diagnostic purposes. A used 350w power supply is good to have on hand too, just be sure it has the correct power connectors, or get some adapters for SATA, PCIe, 4pin/8pin mobo power connector, 20/24pin main connector, etc....

Good luck! Let us know how things go!

(always remove the power cord from the PC before opening and doing any work in the case!!!!)
