After doing a reset on my laptop, I lost the 'sleep' option. I have been to the advanced section and it is not even in there. I also selected some features that are not visible.
Is there something shy of another reset whereby I can obtain sleep. I have tried all the Google suggestions with no luck.

Odd you say sfc b/c that is why I did the reset. I ran the DISM health feature which failed also. I have not tried it since the reset. I know I had corrupt files before this reset.
Let me attend to your suggestions then I will get back to you and thank you.

PS I am running Win 8.1 fully updated

I used the 8.1 disc but cannot recall the details. Sorry

After all that work I am going to run sfc then after it fails will run DISM health and that will fail too just like before.
Any ideas before another reset/reinstall would be appreciated

Only a guess (because I have no access to a Win 8.1 machine).

    Try to run
    POWERCFG -HIBERNATE ON
in an elevated CMD window. As I said - it's only a guess ...

Sfc reported corruption but DISM repaired it.

My system does not have sleep options since the reset.

ON the power page, even when I check to show features not available, it only shows shut down, restart and on the bottom I can click hibernate.

During the reset or the updates, sleep was omitted. I wonder if using the disc would fix it?

I was going to ask how the os disc might be able to help?
I checked the BIOS and the video card is basic. I am going to see what the name of the card is and update the driver.

So how can I use the os disc to help without wiping everything out?

I really think the trouble is that I have a video card on my pc that used to look different than the look of this MS basic one. How do I find the name of the card not the one being used but the one installed? If I can get that name I can install the right drivers or what is necessary to get the installed card to function not the MS basic one. I have tried DX but it only shows what is working not the card that is installed.

I found the card that came with the pc =ATI Mobile Radeon, 64 BIT, 1 GB, DDR364mx16x8pcs.
How do I remove the bad and get the correct one installed?

Device Manager will tell you what display adapters you have and let you try to update them if you wish, though few here actually use that method of updating drivers.

The device manager shows the MS installed driver when reset took place not the ATI one I need. I cannot install the driver which means to me that the old have to e removed. Do you know of a sweeper that can do that job.
I know there is a manual way also but am not sure of it.
if I clean out the old MS drivers I install the new ATI one and all will be fine.
