No Smoking in Public

Seems as Dec 1st., in Nova Scotia.....Bad singing in public and smoking is a nono! Seems bad singing is still welcome.
Smoking pot is more acceptible than a ciggybut now.
Funny thing is, government workers still go smoke outside the building!
Imagine having a smoke and a cop comes and empties your pack with a big fat ticket
Seems the government gets a 90% tax on Ciggies, plus the pst gst!
Now they also get the fines off it too!!

The real funny part is...The government doesnt want to ban ciggarettes because the taxes collected off of smokers is insanely high.
LMAO, it's not they put it to medical! There is a big guy that likes his Cigars that is sitting on a huge payroll.
So smoking is bad, for people that don't think candy, and preservitives + + + + are not bad....Take a look at Obeseity, The real #1 killer!
Then there is pollution from cars...Factories, our homes that dumps, get dumped into water, War + + +
I am a smoker, doesn't mean I think it's cool or a good thing. I do remember someone saying its a free country....Never once did I get to vote on that one.
Whats next? what after smoking ciggies will be next?
Apparently in some towns.....It's illegal for moose to mate on the street on sunday.....
WTF is that about and who makes these laws in a free country without my 2 bits?

I used to be sperscribed VIOX, untill they realized it was killing people fast. then it was taken off the market....not banned!
Someone seeing me smoke a cigarette across the street wont kill them half as much as that muffler juice they suck in on a constant basis, or their towns pulp mill, or worse.....
I can see why restraunts dont want smoke....I do. end of that point we get it!!
Cars push way more, and way worse poison than any cigarette, Viox is worse, plus many more money making doctor drugs.
I tell you staight up... that stoopid war that noone really gives to krikey craps about is killing, and costing, a halibut more than lives than the ciggy i'm about to lite..

Banning smoking outside is stupid. And doesn't make any sense. If they're going to do that they may as well ban smoking all together.

Quite what that has to do with the argument is somewhat beyond me, though ...

 

Banning smoking altogether would be stupid too.

1. It would just go underground, like pot-smoking etc
2. The Govt would lose a heck of a lot of revenue.

Ain't gonna happen IMHO.

no offense.. but I hate walking into someones smoke cloud. I didn't force you to take up smoking but I have more of a right to not have to be bombarded by what I cannot see...that which is nastily exhausted from your smokers mouth/lungs into the air. You like smoking? I have nothing against that.. just don't do it where I have even the remotest possibility of inhaling your habit.

 

Kodo, I don't want to smoke in your restraunt, Or even a little bit argue. But smoking outside does not pollute you nearly the same as the millions of cars burning gasoline, and factories melting metals, or producing plastics.etc.
The Great Lakes of Canada and the USA, werent polluted by ciggies, Nor was the acid rain!
Plus, why should I be engrossed by societies big fascination on sugar, and fatty foods. I care not for both, I eat healthy. Yet its advertised daily.
Just starting your Auto is walking into your own smoke cloud..
How about I take away your car addiction, plastic, steels, and yes your insect repellent, and yes of course your freedom

And as such outside is good because there is plenty of air to dilute it. What would make sense is banning smoking on particularly busy roads with lots of pedestrians.

As for fining cameras - with current technology it's more than possible to automatically detect if someone is smoking from their body movement. Just hook up a few of the millions of CCTV cameras on your streets - OK my streets - and you're laughing. Yet another cash cow - not to mention the insane privacy implications.

 

Off subject, but most dont even have a clue how bad computers not recycled are for the environment. Even recycled pc's are very very bad...I know...lets blame it on cigarettes!!

Depends what kind of smog. Admitadley if the only pollution in the air was cigarette smoke (what a strange kind of place that would be ...) then you probably wouldn't get smog. But when the ammount of PM in the air is high enough (i believe there is a threshold point for this but I can't remember) then you will be able to see visible smog.

Photochemical smog, on the other hand, is entirely different - and cigarette smoke will change how that works.

 

Oh and any kind of electronic device is full of silicon, hydrocarbons and all sorts of nasty stuff which degrades into even nastier stuff. PC's have rather a lot of this, especially hard drives. The stuff magnetic drive heads are extremely toxic, and if you were to ingest even a tiny particle of one of those neodynium magnets you would be in a lot of trouble.

I agree that banning smoking in public is bad. people have rights.
I can't see how smoking outside hurts anyone.

telling people how to live their lives has to have a limit. why not ban alcohol?,it does way more to hurt people IMO.

 

Prohibition does not work, it has been proven. They might as well stick with the way they have it now so they get their tax money, when they realize they can tax the hell out of pot they will legalize that too.

 

Wether smoking is good for you, bad for you, or in between - bottom line is that it is a personal choice and lifestyle thing, which should be a matter of personal decision, and not a matter of Govt legislation.

Having said that, I do agree with not smoking in public confined spaces, cinemas, public transport and work offices. However, banning smoking in public is just outrageous and stupid. If laws like that are passed, then they will just be ignored en mass.

I don't really like walking though someone's second hand ciggy cloud, either. I also don't like walking into any one's fart gas or bad breath, as well, (maybe we should ban farting in public, then? ). But then, breathing in truck and motor cycle fumes at the traffic lights are liable to harm me far worse than ciggy smoke. People leaning over me with smokes, or stubbing out dirty butts in front of me are more annoying.

A lot has to do with common sense and consideration, rather than legislation, i.m.o.

Most smokers, will butt out around NON smokers, and never bring it into their world on perpose.

Screw banning war, ban religion...
in all time, not the past 100 years more people have died in the name of "god" than any other reason, combined.

 

I'm betting "ciggs" have killed more than war, armed and innocent. The ban will be public places. They're working on that in BC. I also don't like walking into the cloud of smoke, and I don't like the butts laying around everywhere either. Seems all smoker's toss there butts away when they're outside because what else are you gonna do with them. I've also seen them flying out of car windows during fire season. How responsible is that?

 

well your wrong, I lived in OK falls just south of penticton, and only tourists are stupid enough to do that and throw out cigarettes out their window in 40' heat. I swear someone watched you litter just the other day. It is nice you can forget your own oops and blame it on others! If you think smokes have killed more than war, your on glue! so why not share?

I never said that I like the pollution from car exhaust. It's something that I do think about quite often and wish the I personally had more control over. Infact.. when it's possible, I will purchasing an alternative vehicle so I can do my part in preventing the further pollution of our air. That being said, smoking is still polluting only it nickle and dimes the saturation. That being said.. I you have the right to smoke.. I have the right to not having to breathe it in.. which is the more natural right? breathing or smoking?
