No sound after reinstalling Windows

OK, so I've formatted my hard disk drive and installed fresh Windows XP. I got all updates from Windows Update, still to no avail. I know this is a frequently asked question, but I downloaded many drivers already, but nothing. I used SoundMAX Control Panel, that's all I remember.

 

OK, so I've restored backup I made before formatting the drive. I poked around in Device Manager and I think my driver is SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio by Analog Devices, v5.12.1.5410.

You should find the soundmax in control panel. Work around and find out a way to display the soundmax icon in the system taskar tray. The options something like display soundmax in the system tray. Not sure.

 

No, it's not there. I mean, how could it be when I reinstalled Windows afresh? It used to be SOUNDMAX everywhere, for example in Sounds and Audio Devices it was selected as default device everywhere, and in Device Manager it was SoundMAX as well...
I didn't have SoundMAX from the beginning when I first bought my computer, they installed it for me when I bought 5.1 Surround Speakers. That's why I'm missing it, now I can't adjust volume independently of my subwoofer, centre, front and back.
Though I'm happy to have sound at all.

 

OK, maybe I should open a new topic, as SoundMAX is now a new issue?
