No sound after reinstalling XP home.

    After I reinstall XP Home I have no sound so I go to VIA and download a driver. I now have sound nut no mike. Were the slider control for mike is ok it is the balance control on top it is grayed out. The mute is unchecked. Any help would be appreciated

    Igot the link from MSI and downloaded it but the mic is still grayed out..

    I assume that is by design. It isn't a stereo microphone so left and right (as speakers) would not apply; hence the right/left is grayed out. As long as you can control the volume it is working the way it is supposed to.
