you may need to install soundcard drivers, do you know what card you have or if its an onboard one your mobo makers site will have one for the board.

if you dont know the make of the sound card then either have a look at it for a name and model No. or use Everest to find out what it is.

another question did you also after re-install, install your chipset drivers?

I probably have on-board sound so what type would it be if my mobo is a MicroStar?
    And, no i did not.

any idea what model MSI motherboard it is?

or do you have the driver disk that would have come with the mobo?

In case you are in a rush and Halo is stuck in traffic, download and try the first one listed on this page. this

Halo, just wanted to help out...

Monkey, you could always check for newer drivers for your components on their manufacturer's website under 'support/drivers' section. ;) :)

in the BIOS settings on the (possibly on PCI/PnP or Integrated Peripherals page) there should be a settings that will say 'AC97 Audio' or 'Onboard Audio' make sure it is set to enabled/on. I know simple stuff but making sure....I like to go Low-Tech before Hi-Tech... ;)
