    Good evening all,
After a second ( in three years) major crash and reloaded XP Pro the sound has disappeared.
My motherboard is Name: NOVA (MS6367) V1.0
    Type: µATX motherboard
Manufacturer: MSI 10-01-2002, with a AMD Athlon XP 2600+
and the serial number is 025557120677

I did successfully get this working last time but cannot find the link again.
Any help greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

    Hi graham :)
When this happens out of the blue your first action should be to uninstall the main driver for your sound card. Its located by right clicking on my computer then click on properties / device manager / sound and uninstalling it from here. On rebooting your computer your system will reload the sound driver where it should now work. If it doesn't for any reason then go to the manufacturer's website for a updated driver
    hope this helps

    Regards

    Hello again,
Your suggestion has part worked, as I had to go to the PBell website and download the drivers for the motherboard. This has fixed the scrolling judder on the screen but not the sound. Unplugging the speaker plug and re inserting it gives me a clunk, so I know the speakers haven't blown.
The device manager shows no errors but still no sound.
Done the usual checks on volume OK and mute NOT ticked but still silence.
    Any ideas?
    Regards Graham

SUCCESS..... the invisable man has been at it again, or could be one of the medderling teenagers I live with. ( I'll go with the latter)
The suggestion you gave me worked, but only after I took apart the speakers and connected them CORRECTLY.
Memo to self - never assume anything.
    Thanks again
    Regards

    Graham
