No Sound Again

I have a SB card and the system keeps losing it. i have the icon on the tray down by the clock; i double click to open and it says no device installed program is going to close. i go to the control panel, sound devices, and sure enough there is no sound device loaded on the front page, but when i hit the tabs on that page, i can see all the drivers loaded...

any help would be appreciated...do i have a mb that is failing? how can i get the card to be recognized again.

Have you tried removing the card, cleaning the slot, with compressed air, and replacing it ?
