    Hi

Try not to use ...... in between text as the spamfilter will moderate your post and it will not be seen until approved by an admin, also slang as in "watz" maybe also moderated, try to type proper words.

As to your issue, please open Device Manager and tell us what devices have yellow ! marks next to them?

What Service Pack is your XP at? if not at least SP2 then update to SP2/3

Driver Scanner like Driver Detective are a waste of time, they never find the correct drivers for OEM PCs like ACER, HP, DELL etc, uninstall it as it likely gave you a wrong driver to install, on on that note what drivers have you installed, and if any are in add/remove or device manager next to an audio device, uninstall them.

Then run CCleaner and its Cleaner and Registry cleaners, run the registry one until nothing is listing for removal.

Then again reinstall the Chipset and reboot, then the Audio driver from here http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/desktop/power_s260.html#driver if you are not at SP3 then you need to install the UAA driver from here

Not to step on any toes, but the newest UAA update is not available at the link Halo posted, only the information about the older UAA update and a link to request the download are at that link, but it is available from Microsoft using this direct link. This will only work with SP2; it may (or may not) work with SP0 or SP1. If you have a service pack older than SP2, use KB835221 which is available from this direct link. Service pack 3 does not require the UAA update as it is built-in, but sometimes issues arise. You can use the info in this thread to "trick" service pack3 into thinking that it's service pack 2 so you can get the UAA hi-def update and your sound drivers installed.

I hope this helps! Good luck!

Make sure "Windows Audio" is showing in services, and that it is set to automatic and started.

If it isn't, I can show you how to restore it.

As to your issue, please open Device Manager and tell us what devices have yellow ! marks next to them?

as you have installed the drivers that are for your model, and have checked that the Windows Audio Service is running then next is to check that the Audio is enabled in the BIOS, to get to the BIOS screen varies when you boot the PC, on the very first screens will eb the key to press to enter the BIOS, could be one of the below, then check in the menus for Audio and if disabled, enable it and hit F10 to save and exit.

    •F1
    •F2
    •DEL
    •ESC
    •F10
    •Fn+F2

Then re-install the drivers for Audio from ACER

Coudl also try this http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307918 and the Audio troubleshooter and see if it highlights anything.
