No Sound Device

    Windows xp says there is no sound device when in the device manager it shows my sound card is working fine.

    I have installed all the drivers for it but it still doesn't work. I get no sound at all- no system sounds or other programs .thanks for your help!

    You have c-media installed which is a usb speaker ststem :-D

    In the audio and voice tab's in windows sound you will have to select c-media if you have usb speakers or for on board mobo9 do the hd audio/soundmax/realtek,etc always supposing you have those drivers installed - if they are they will be in the drop down menu.

    I have to do this every time I install hd audio as it defaults to that and I use c-media :)
