    Hello everyone,

Just today I was using Google to find a picture for a paper I'm doing for college and it sent me to an archaic Angelfire site and when I clicked the link I got an error message on WinAmp:

    DirectSound output v2.43
    Bad DirectSound driver.
    Code: 88780078

I researched the problem and switched the output driver for WinAmp over to a SoundMAX driver.

But the problem is, I have no sound anywhere else. Whenever I go into my sound and audio devices on the Control Panel, everything is grayed over and I cannot select anything.

I have an HP Pavillion 760n. I've tried everything I can think of with no success, so now I turn to y'all to help me out here. I'm losing my mind.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi

Have you also tried to update your sound drivers to latest ones from HP, plus which version DirectX do you have ( can click start > run and type dxdiag and hit enter to find that out )?

    Is winamp also latest version?

Somehow the sound fixed itself. It started using a different sound driver and now works fine. Thanks for the ideas though, I did do the proper updates and now have the latest Direct X and WinAmp.

    Thanks.
