I reinstalled Windows 98 and now I have no sound. In the control panel under Multimedia the audio is grayed out and under Devices the Audio Device does not expand to show any drivers. I do not have a sound card. Do I need an audio driver? Thanks!

Try going to your computer manufacturer and download what you need. I had to do that about a year ago and it was free.

    Hi,

What kind of computer and what model?
Look and see if any other disks came with the computer that contain the sound drivers. Many dells are like that.
You can also look and see what sound chip is on the motherboard and give driverguide.com a try.

The easiest way is to download and install Everest Home Edition, which you can get from HERE.

That will tell you what the components are, and provide links for drivers.
