So, it shows up in device manager without a yellow exclamation point, meaning it is working fine?

You have installed sound card drivers and motherboard drivers?

This is a laptop, otherwise make sure speakers work and all is plugged in correctly?

I assumed you browed sound settings and made sure that sound is set to default sounds, not muted and it says it is working properly?

If so, when did this start, or should I say stop, working or was there something you did around the time it stopped.

Control Panel, system, device manager. Find the item that is yellow and enable it or let us know what it is so we can further assist.

Hard to tell without being there. If it is not showing up in device manager, double checked its enabled in the bios. You could disable it in bios, reboot, enable it again and see if it is detected by Windows. If it is in a PCI slot, remove it and reseat it. Finally, try new drivers. Beyond that I am out of guesses without seeing it.
