No Sound on Laptop

Hello

I am working on my uncle's laptop. IT is a Micron Transport LT. It was given to him in pretty bad shape and didn't have any recovery cd's for it. He installed a new hard drive. I did a clean install of Windows 2000. I went to Micron's website and downloaded all the drivers that were on there for it (Sound, video, modem, etc). I still don't have any sound. He said that before I did the clean install, he could hear the modem trying to dial out. Now you don't hear anything. I have went into properties and made sure nothing was muted. Like I said, I don't have a recovery CD so I'm not sure what to do now. It has to be a driver of some kind but i'm not sure. Any help is surely appreciated.

I found 3 versions of the lt, and they seem to have different versions of audio drivers, check this out and confirm what model you have,

I used the serial number look up tool when I initially downloaded the audio driver. It is the NBK001566-00 model. I then downloaded that audio driver. Do you think I should try the other audio drivers just for the lt for the hell of it?
