NO Sound on new computer

    My 85 year old mother recently updated her computer to a brand new hard drive, but there is no sound. When I search her comuter there is nothing to find. Surely a sound card would have come with it? I have done the right click/my computer/devices etc, nothing! Help? Thanks :)

    In device manager did you see any yellow ! marks?

    If so what was it by?

    Also if this is a PC built by a company like DEL, HP etc what version and model is it?

    Thanks for responding Halo, and no, I didnt see any yellow exclamtion marks against any device drivers or whatever. In fact, the sound devices were greyed out, which makes me wonder if anything was installed at all? She is 700 kms away, so next time i go up I will look again. I guess I can install a sound card if I have to? *looks blanky around. hugs

    What speakers do you have hooked up to them.

    Anotherwards are they Digital or Analog???

    Using Everest will help determine what motherboard she has which could lead to knowing if it has onboard sound capablities, which will lead us to a driver.

    Also was this a pre-build PC from a large company ( eg. DELL, HP etc ) if so what model version/number is it, if it was a smaller company do they have website where we can view the PCs specs?

    the more info you can give the better, plus yes it wouldnt be too hard installing a soundcard if no sound is available already.
