    Hello,

I've read a few threads, and Musksnipe has already helped me solve a portion of this problem via reading about the same issue with another poster. This forum is awesome. I wish I could understand more than about 5-10% of it. :D

I've got a new PC, a custom build with a Gigabite DDR2 motherboard. This mother board apparently has a built in Hi Def Audio which I can't wait to check out now that I've got the Realtek driver finally installed and see some of it's capabilities.

I got through the problems with the Realtek installation failure, and all is 'happy' so I thought. The Realtek Hi Def is now showing up in the Device Manager and is reportedly working fine. No mute buttons are checked, the Front and Rear are both enabled. Speakers are plugged in and working, but still no sound.

    Any ideas?

Do you have the motherboard chipset drivers installed? They usually have to be installed before the audio, but you might try it, without un-installing that Realtek driver.
