no sound or USB support

    my IBM thinkpad laptop has recently stopped putting out sound and the USB ports are not working. the sound says error code 88780078. please let me know any information you might need. i plan on working on this more tonite when i get home from work. any advice ahead of itme would be greatly appreciated. thanks

    sorry i forgot to add that the device manager shows no problems. there are no exclamation points or anything on it

    It is possible that you need to update the drivers.
    Audio can be funny , at times, and it could well be worth looking at updated driver for the audio.
    Usb , might benifit, if you go to microsoft update, and search for usb.
