After changing my graphics card to one with an hdmi port, it plays the picture on my tv with no problems. However there is no sound. Is this becouse the sound is going through the onboard sound and not the graphics card its an old system which i am upgrading as much as poss without changing the mother board. Help me please:confused

    Hello,
Did you set the HDMI device as default playback device in control panel

Start>Control Panel>Sound>Playback (or Audio) tab depending on the OS. Select the HDMI device as the default device. You may also have to disable onboard audio in BIOS.

Do you see any yellow exclamation marks in Device Manager relating to sound? Expand the Sound devices by clicking on the plus sign.

I think you'll find that your card does not support audio over HDMI? It could be that they just convert the DVI to HDMI (just change the port) and not bother with linking in audio.

    Post the model please :)

It is only a DVI & VGA port capable card. You have to use a 1/8" stereo to RCA cord for audio. Either go to Radioshack and get one, or you can get both from Monoprice.

go to my computer and right click the disc drive and "explore" / "open" the disc, you should be able to find the manuals that way
