    Hello guys..

So, I have an Amilo M3438G.
And I formatted it, without the cd from Fujitsu-Siemens.
so, I had to install the drivers from scratch on my own.
But even if I install the drivers for my sound card, there is no result.
When I check in sound and audio device properties, it is like no device is installed..
    Any help?

    Ok. Simple things first.
Is the Windows Audio service running?
    Go to Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Services
Scroll down the list of services until you find Windows Audio
Open up Windows Audio by double clicking
Make sure it is running, if not, click on Start.

Do you have an added-on sound card (make and model name if you do) or the on board sound your PC came with? (Realtek ALC880)

Download this app and attach the system specs in your next post

so, I checked the audio service..
    It is running..
As for my sound card, it is the on board sound card..
I ran the everest application, but I am not sure what you mean by system specs.
I have attached the computer summary. If it sth else you mean, plz inform me..
Thx a lot for your help, mate..

Thanks for the info but..... run Everest again. This time click "Report" at the top, click next to get to "Report Profile", select "Hardware-related Pages", click next, select "Plain Text", click "Finish". Then when it is done processing, click "Save To File". Save it where you want to. (I would use Desktop.) Then attach it in a post. You can delete the file after up-loading it.

musk, I downloaded both the files..
i installed the service pack with no problem, but... even though I install the realtek driver, nothing changes.. I still listen to the old "beep" from the motherboard instead of the regular sound.. When i install the driver it creates a folder inside program files but that's all..
I have attached the file you requested.
Thx again for all the time you spend..

Hello guys.. Happy New Year!!! i hope everything is great for all of you..

So, from the motherboard site I downloaded the soundcard drivers..
I guess those are the ones you wanted me to install..
I tried to install them but the installation process always stuck at the end..
It didn't crash the pc, but it never finished..
Anyway, I figured it was because I had tried to install the other drivers yesterday, so I tried to uninstall them first. But they were nowhere to find at the add/remove programs list.
So I just deleted the folder "Realtek" inside "program files".
After that I tried the installation again and it worked..
But.. with no results.. I rebooted, but no sound again.. I am trying to execute some of the .exe inside the folder, but nothing happens..

Try the chipset drivers. If they aren't working right your sound won't either.

I installed the chipset drivers. And everything seems to be ok..
Does that mean that they are working correctly?

i mean that windows load correctly, not that the sound is on..
I don't really know the way to check if the drivers of the chipset have been
    installed correctly..

Yes, they are and probably were working OK. We might have to try a new thing that has been working for a couple of other folks recently. RealTek drivers have become stubborn to install lately. First, do this:
Check to see if your Sound Device drivers are OK. Use Device Manager:
Start>Control Panel> System. On the Hardware tab, click Device Manager, then click the plus sign in front of Sound, Video, Game Controllers.
In Device Manager, if there is a ? in front of your audio device, that means no audio driver is installed.
A ! means driver installation attempted but with problems.
I need to know if there is an unknown device there.

Would you take a screen shot of what your Device Manager shows in Sound, Video, Game Controllers and upload it for me?

Sorry for the delay of my reply Musksnipe..
I was out of town and had no connection to the net..
Other than that, I think sb has hijacked my hotmail account.
I am trying to login for the past half hour with no success..
It just tells me that my account or the password is incorrect..
I tried to go to the password recovery page, and the secret question is different from the one I chose..
Anyway, I don't want to bother you with that..
As for the sound, there are no unidentified or problematic devices in device manager under the sound, video and game controllers tab. The only thing is a PCI device under system devices..
I have attached two screenshots from device manager..
Thx for all your help mate..

That may be because of the chipset install. I just followed that link for the one suggested earlier. (I should have done that before) That was for your motherboard but not from the Fujitsu site. This chipset driver is specifically for your PC. It may be the same but some drivers are product specific and it's better to use them than a generic.
    Mobile Intel 915PM Express Chipset
I'm going to look more into your PCI and get back with you soon. Install that driver and let me know if that solves the PCI or audio issues.

Did you try uninstalling and reinstalling that PCI driver? Right click on it while in Device manager.

This is your audio PCI device:
Intel 82801FBM ICH6-M - High Definition Audio Controller
and I think that is what is showing as a bad install in your Device Manager. Follow these steps if the last step I posted doesn't work. When you get to downloading the audio driver, use this one:
    http://www.majorgeeks.com/Realtek_High_Definition_Audio_for_2KXP03_d4902.html

The Universal Audio Architecture (UAA) High Definition Audio class driver for Windows* may be corrupted or causing problems with the audio driver installation.
To resolve this, try the following:
    1. Click Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs.
    2. Look for the following two items: Realtek* High Definition Audio Driver and High Definition Audio driver Package - KB888111.
    3. If these items are listed in Add/Remove programs, remove them.
    4. Restart Windows.
    5. Download the latest audio driver for your desktop board from Download Center.
    6. Double-click the filename to extract the files.
You might not need to perform steps 7 and 8 below. I believe that is a self-installing download I gave you. Just follow the install wizard steps, then do steps 9 and 10 below.
If that doesn't get you sound, start back at step 1 and follow all the way through.

    7. Go to the folder where the files have been extracted and browse to the \HDAQFE\xpsp2\us\ folder or the \MSHDQFE\Win2K_XP\us\ folder. (The name of this folder depends on your desktop board model.)
    8. Double-click the file kb888111xpsp2.exe to install the High Definition Audio Driver Package.

    9. Restart Windows.
    10. Install the audio driver.

So, I tried to reinstall the driver for the PCI device..
I downloaded the self-extracting file and found a series of drivers inside..
But since I tried to do it manually I had to choose from some :
Intel(R) 925X/XE PCI Express Root Port - 2585 for example..
there were many inside.. I tried to install with 2-3 of them but all of them did not get installed properly.. When I restarted the driver had again a ! beside it..
The one that got installed correctly was:
    Intel(R) 82801FB/FBM SMBus Controller - 266A.
It was the only one including BUS in the title and I remember seeing sth about BUS when reading about the driver.. (or am I wrong??)
But even that one did not solve the problem completely..
I don't have sound again, but when I enter sound and audio devices properties inside control panel, in the audio tab, there are three devices that i can shoose from for sound recording.. (Of course there are no playback devices)
I will attach the screen shot..
As for the add/remove programs application, it doesn't work..
It allways sticks at the "plz wait while the list is being populated..", nothing appears no matter how long I wait..

Maybe this is because of the many attempts I have made to install different drivers.. Possibly I will have to reinstall windows, I guess..
But I don't think that will solve the problem for my audio drivers..

Was this the driver you downloaded ? The one below is not for your motherboard. Yours is the Intel 915M.
I would restore back to as far back as you can or to a point before you started adding drivers. Try the add/remove programs again.
If it still doesn't populate, download this app: http://www.majorgeeks.com/Revo_Uninstaller_d5706.html

Open up your Realtek folder ( you should have one) Locate these 2 files:
Realtek High Definition Audio Driver and High Definition Audio driver Package - KB888111. (They may have these names: \HDAQFE\xpsp2\us\ or \MSHDQFE\Win2K_XP\us\) and (kb888111xpsp2)
Run the Revo app, put it into "Hunter" mode, then drag the 'crosshair' icon over the top of one and uninstall then do the other.
    Then finish these steps:

    :D Everything is fixed..
Reinstalling the device step by step fixed everything..
