No Sound

My computer has no sound except when I am Playing a cd. Can someone please help.:cry

2. Soundblaster Model?

3. Changed Motherboard and CPU. Previously with this hard drive I had a volume control/mixer Icon at the botton left of my screen by my clock. Its gone now I havn't been able to find it in my control panel either

I'm thinking that perhaps everything is muted or disabled except for CD playback volume. Geeez, it's been awhile since I worked with '98.... go to Control Panel > Sound Devices (or whatever it's called) and look for the advanced settings and make sure nothing has been disabled or muted, and that all the available volume settings are turned up. Do you have a little speaker icon down by the clock? In the device manager, what exactly is listed under Sound, Video, and Game Controllers?

 

Is it possible there is a problem with it being an AMD processor. Info at creative for their drivers indicated compatibility with intel processors. Device manager says Driver is loaded. Still no volume icon. Anymore suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I had this hard drive with an older motherboard and CPU I installed it in a system with an AMD Duron processor. Before there were no problems I had a volume Icon by the clock everything was working fine. I was and am using an SB live card with SBL 5.1. Now I have no Volume Icon and no counds from my computer or on the internet. But my CD/dvd player works fine. Device manager says drivers are installed. Could the AMD processor be a problem? Creative says compatability is with intel. Any suggestions our help is appreciated.

Also I can find nothing to contol the volume any more. And SBL 5.1 does not seem to be working correctly.

 

Can you post the exact model of the Creative sound card? The model numbers are usually similar to CT1234 or SB4321 and there were a few labeled as Ensoniq right at the time when Creative bought out Ensoniq and these have a chip number like ES1370 thru ES1373 (there's no 1372) and they may go by the name AudioPCI3000 or AudioPCI128....

Hey I changed out The SB0100 for a CT4780 and the system is functioning. So whats the deal was it the SBL 5.1 that was having the problem with the card, or windows 98, or the AMD processor. Any Ideas. And are their any Major differences between these two cards is one preferred over the other if they are what are the reasons. I really appreciate your feedback.
