no sound

    i own a gateway window vista home premium model #gm5684e. i lost all sound, media,dvd, dvr etc. i have no sound at all. i have run restore. gone to tap8 done the full factory default and still no sound. Is it time to replace sound card or did i miss something. i have reloaded all drivers needed also. please advise.:wave

    Open device manager. Any yellow !s or red Xs?

    What exactly is listed in the Device Manager under 'Sound, Video, and Game Controllers'? It may be easier to attach a screen shot....

    went to device manager and under sound it shows Real tek high definition auto. on properties it shows its running correctly.
